After agreeing to meet the guy later (and realizing halfway through the day that she’d forgotten to get his name), Elizabeth went back to work. The day went by excruciatingly slow, but it wasn‘t due to the anticipation of meeting the guy later. In fact if the other girls hadn’t kept reminding her then she probably would have forgotten all about it. It was the fact that she continuously kept checking her cell phone for a call from her husband that made things so torturous.
At the end of the day she clocked out and sat down at one of the tables inside, flicking through her phone until his name was highlighted. Elizabeth stared at it for a bit before she moved her finger to press ‘call’. The phone was ripped out of her grasp, however, before she could at the last second by a co-worker.
“Go out with the guy tonight,” the girl said. “Have fun.” It was clear by the infliction of her tone by the way she said the words ‘have fun’ what she actually meant. Elizabeth shot her an exasperated look as she snatched her phone back. “Look,” the girl sighed, taking a seat beside her. “You’re not looking for anything serious and guys only want one thing. He was hot. I say give it to him. The best thing about it is at the end of the night you feel good and he‘s going to be ecstatic that you‘re not going to be waiting around wondering when he‘s gonna call and getting all clingy.”
“Right,” Elizabeth replied. Shrugging her shoulder, she chuckled with a shake of her head. “I’ll just be an easy whore.”
“You were already one of those, honey,” her friend told her sympathetically before patting her on the back and getting up. Elizabeth rolled her eyes, but grinned incredulously all the same as she slid the phone back in her pocket. As she stood up and collected her things, the girl from earlier called out, “I see a black car outside!” Elizabeth tried to ignore her, but the girl followed her outside. Her friend gave her a playful tap on the bottom making Elizabeth jump slightly as she looked back over her shoulder at the girl. Her friend teased a bit too loudly for her liking as she walked away to her car, “Don’t be too rough on him now, Lizzy.”

Micah made sure that when he and his group left, they left an awesome tip. Even if Elizabeth hadn't agreed to go out with him that evening, she deserved a good tip. She got the food out at a decent time and everyone, particularly Micah and Ethan, enjoyed Elizabeth's company. That's what made a good waitress in Micah's mind. The bill totaled close to fifty dollars and they left a thirty dollar tip. Micah also made sure to wink very obviously at Elizabeth as they left the diner.
The next eight hours didn't drag for the male one bit. He and his friends continued to go biking for about four hours before Ethan had a phone call. Apparently Ethan's girl wanted him home right then and the guys could not pass up the chance to make motions and noises of that of a whip. Ethan told them all to fuck off as he left the park. With one less person, the rest of the guys slowly but surely came up with reasons to leave. Micah told them to just go and that he'd find something or someone to occupy the rest of his afternoon.
Sure enough, as Micah pulled out his phone, he got a text from Kely, just the girl he had been wanting to talk to. Micah rode his bike to a meeting spot for the pair. After an hour of having 'fun', the two parted ways, Micah telling her that he needed to go get cleaned up. She made a remark about him being a dirty boy and he just laughed.
After getting home, Micah took a shower then laid down in just boxers. It wasn't long before he was napping. He woke up abruptly to his alarm on his phone going off, signaling that it was time to leave to meet up with Elizabeth for their date. Micah wasn't one to take girls out on dates but he figured Elizabeth was an old fashioned girl just based on her blushing the first time Ethan made a sexual joke to her.
Micah got dressed rather slowly, taking his time to make sure he looked good. As he walked out of the duplex he shared with his sister, Micah pulled on the leather jacket that he had hanging on a hook by the door. He closed and locked the door behind him, but checked his pockets for his essentials first - phone, wallet and keys. Smiling that he had all of them, he closed the door, walked to his car and turned it on once he was seated.
Micah drove back to the little diner, parked the car and got out. He walked around to the front of the vehicle just as he saw the diner door open. He leaned against the front of his car and crossed his arms over his chest. He watched as Elizabeth came out, followed by another waitress. The other girl's comment made Micah grin. "It's not me she'll have to worry about," Micah called to the waitress who shook her head with a smile and walked back into the restaurant. As Elizabeth neared him, Micah held his arms out to the sides. "Do I clean up nice or what?" he asked her. He then remembered that she hadn't gotten his name earlier in the day. "Name's Micah by the way," he told her, taking one of her hands and holding it to his mouth. He looked up at her quickly then kissed the back of her hand like a gentleman.

Elizabeth looked at Micah, nodding her head. Reaching up she began to remove the bobby pins and let her hair cascade in a natural wave down her shoulders. So it wouldn‘t puff out too much she ran her fingers through it until it had the right amount of bounce. It felt good to let her hair down after a long day.
“Almost didn’t recognize you for a minute there,” she told him. Pretending to evaluate him, Elizabeth tapped her chin with a finger. “But I dunno,” she said. “I kind of liked it when you were covered in dirt. Now you just look like everyone else all clean and stuff.” She laughed lightly to show that she was only joking before adding more sincerely, “You do look nice.”
When he took her hand her eyes drifted down for a second before flickering back up at him. “Oh my,” she said, her voice wavering slightly and rising a few octaves when he kissed the back of it. “I, uh…I…” she babbled for a moment, realizing how much of an idiot she was probably looking right now. Remembering what her friend said earlier, Elizabeth bit her bottom lip nervously before deciding to tell him the truth.
“Micah, I’m married,” she admitted with a wince. “Well currently separated actually. Verge of divorce, but still.“ Elizabeth looked at him curiously wondering what he thought about it before she quickly added, “I didn’t mean to lead you on or anything.” She’d just been flirting to get a better tip--though she felt it best to leave that part out. “I feel like I need to tell you this now though before anything else happens tonight. It‘s not ever going to be anything more than, well, than this.” Elizabeth looked up at him expectantly, hoping that he understood what she was trying to get out without actually having to say it herself.
