After hearing Ben's question after she had spoken to him, Dylan thought for a moment about why she had agreed to dinner with him in the first place. Had she been secretly hoping that Ben would have feelings for her or was it just that she was bored and had nothing else better to do. Taking a moment or two to think about it, Dylan eventually spoke up. "I guess that maybe I thought that we could go back to being Ben and Serenity. Maybe I wanted a little bit of my childhood back or that I wished that I would have just stayed in Miami and seen where we could have gone. I guess I wanted to see if there was ever a chance for that," she spoke. She paused for a moment, this one much longer than the last. A few minutes passed before Dylan picked her head off of the male's shoulder and looked at him.
Just looking at him, Dylan breathed a bit deeply, then exhaled. Leaning over to Ben, the blonde female pressed her lips against his for a few seconds before pulling back. "It's been fun, Ben. Thank you for the enjoyable evening, but my sister is waiting up for me," she said. "Besides, you and I are two very different people now," Dylan spoke. "We wouldn't work out. I'll just see you around, maybe," the girl spoke, standing up.
Now on her own two feet again, Dylan began to walk towards the trees again, brushing herself free of the dirt, grass, and leaves that had decided to cling to her dress when she sat on the ground. Just as she reached the trees, Dylan paused and turned her head to look at the male again. "Goodbye, Benjamin Thomas. It was fun while it lasted," she said before turning and disappearing into the darkness.
